I had not seen this guy there before, and although he seemed like a decent guy, I am one of the most gullible people on this planet - way too trusting. So, I'm not able to determine his authenticity. Sure hope it's not true - this is my first season.

If that had any truth to it, the Hunting Forums would be full of posts about it. Would not make sense to close hunting season, too much money and management needed.

I'm about to start hauling water to my feeder pens if we don't get any rain soon.

I'm looking for a Camel dealer who will take my GMC in a trade.

That's what I have been doing. I figured that would be more effective than corn and certainly a hell of a lot cheaper.

It's going to be a tough season with fires or not. When the growing season stops and if it still hasn't rained it will set up this winter to be a killer for wildlife. Deer already badly stressed from the summer will be unable to draw on reserves while browsing on fall/winter vegetation of lower nutritional value. Could the season be cancelled? As stated, I think that boat has left the dock... to late. Could the season be limited? That might be an option in counties where the deer herd is particulary unstable either due to limited habitat or limited population. In areas where the population is high a cull will be needed any way. A lot to this and I think biologists will be watching both deer and hunter behavior very closely in this extreme season.

Might be a good time to buy some stock in Kingsford charcoal.

The movie Airplane comes to mind... Looks like I picked the wrong season to start bowhunting.

                  Appreciate the reasoned response, Bobcat.
