I'm pretty sure the fire was on the Dudart place, where 101 tees into 102. My buddy's place has frontage on 102, and 106, with the main entrance being on 106.

Ok, maybe not as far away from us as I was thinking. I just rode that stretch of 102 that boarders his place. Thought I recognized the fence in the picture. As fence quality goes, his is really nice. Our place is maybe 3/4 of mile from him at the nearest point. Looks like in reading the story, they have the fire contained already!

I bet he was. I was sweating bullets until the LO next door got back with me and we don't have near as much to lose out there.

Glad to hear it sounds like it has missed this area.

What if it had not? As someone who had a prescribed burn in pines go pretty bad one time, 500 acres is not much if the wind switches.

Who decides to cut the fence? Does the FD have the right to cut it whenever and wherever they want?

One of the things I'm getting at is if the fire is coming from the East toward the 500 acres and there is a populated area on the West side does the FD have to delay at all in fighting the fire because you have exotics or deer fenced in? Would it matter if the areas around it were not populated?

I had a close call wens day night. Some one decided to build a fire in their yard to cook weinies . They went in after eating and it caught their house on fire.
I got it stopped with my tractor 50 yards from my fence.
