About to buy a barrel for my son- Encore in 223. I was about to buy a barrel and then came across Bergara Barrels and apparently made for Ed Shilen. Has anyone had any experience with these barrels or this company?

Don't know about the Begara barrels, but I do have quite a bit of experience with Thompson Center, and if I were you, I'd stick with the TC barrels since you have an Encore frame... There could be warranty issues if any problems ever occur. I can tell you from experience that TC has very excellent customer service... I had problem with a barrel I got from them once, and all they asked for was the s/n on the frame and gave me an authorization for return number. They gave me a shipper number for UPS (I think it was UPS). All I had to do was pack it for shipping and drop it off at UPS. I had a brand new barrel in less than a week with a nice "we're sorry" for your problem letter... they didn't even ask me how the problem occurred, or anything. If this .223 barrel will be used primarily for your son to shoot with, I am certain you won't have any accuracy issues with the TC barrel... I've got a Contender barrel in the "super 14" length, and with my scope, I can hit a dime with it at a hundred yards (and it's the handgun version). Good company and good products. I wouldn't mix and match... JMHO. -

They're priced close to OEM barrels. Just get the T/C barrel.Comment
