definately a vertebrae most likey thoracic. Don't think its fish(at least not catfish), but hard to tell. could be immature bovine, equine, or could be coyote. Anything much smaller than a yote wouldn't work.

Fishunter is right. Catfish spine bone which actually makes sense. Where I found this was about a mile from a body of water. My guess is someone caught a decent sized catfish and cleaned it. Scavenger got ahold of the head including spine bone and carried it off some where. The spine just happend to end up in my trail.

Catfish spine. I know because I had to have one removed from my labs foot. I tried pulling it out, and he was not a happy camper about it. Vet had to put him under to get it out, that was costly.
