    Tree Size for Tree Climber

I am turning to GS for y'alls expertise on tree climbers and tree placement.

The manual says the max size on the tree is 20" in diameter. Now, that's hellvua hard to find a good tree placement on our ranch. I found a little bit bigger, around 25" - 30" diameter that will work for my location because everything else is either too small, too big, too short or dried out and about to break and fall off.

My plan was to hang the tree ladder, it's 20' and then hang a tree climber just above the thick limb hanging over for my bottom platform to stand on and then the main trunk tapered off and may be 25" where my seating platform will be placed. I plan on leaving there until bow season is over or until Primos get me a new replacement.

Can I hang my tree climber on 25" or am I crazy for trying to do that against the manual's limit. I'm 6'2" and 260# and the climber's limit is 300#

The reason why I am submitting to Tree Climber now than previous post on other thread about not using this year because of the trees that are, like I just mentioned above. Last Sunday, the high wind broke my Primos' predator blind's ceiling cross member and now I got nothing to hunt out of except my gorilla tree climber that's sitting in garage unused and is brand new, I might as well get it up there and hunt out of a tree. Yes, I am desperate but not crazy enough to forsake safety of my life!

Primos' customer service has been busy all day and couldn't get through them at all AND No, this is not a rant or vent.

Any advice out there will be greatly appreciate. Yes, this is my first time ever to use any kind of tree climber. It'll be my first bow season. I want to make sure I am going to be safe and come home in one piece to my family. I do have harness, all the safety equipment, everything I need for it.

    Thanks in advance.

u can use a climber on a tree with limbs just use sticks or screw in steps to get where you want then strap climber on

I've got the 20' tree ladder that I'm going to use to climb it to get to tree climber. My question is will 25" trunk cause any slip and fall if I sit on the seating platform? Manual says the max is 20" for the V grip to grip on the trunk. I hope I make sense?

If the manual says max 20" then it probably won't fit on anything bigger than 20"s

is the tree you are talking about 25" at the trunk or where you want to hang the stand? a 25" tree 25' int he air is a HUGE tree!! That being said you should be fine. Just put something in the tree under the cable to keep it from slipping down the tree. and WEAR YOUR HARNESS!!

Base is prolly 45 - 50" tapered off on the top will be 25" where I want to hang. its about 35 yds from feeder. The tree's about 80 ft to the top maybe more.

I plan on using extra straps on it as well. There will be a thick branch which Im using as a support to my bottom platform. Will that be ok?

Man, I gotta hand to you guys who use tree climber! Got mine up yeaterday and it was a lot of work!

Granted, this is my first. I had to cut off junk stuff around the base then limbs then hang tree ladder then platform then the seat platform. It took me almost fivw hours of trial and errors while standing on the ladder that I brought with linesmen line for safety. Finally got it all figured out. Heres my set up.

Sat down but man it was tight for my large arse. lol. I strapped the heck out of it just in case! So far it held me up! Looking forward to using it in about 11 days. I dont care it be hogs or w.t. :-)

              Happy Hunting and stay safe!
