I just heard from a buddy that is a fireman helping out in Bastrop that the fire near Tahitian Village is heading West back that way towards an area that survived yesterday-not looking good.

I have a son in law with the forrest service and he said he couldnt get down kannapallli to manawaunu. He has been with the forest service for over 25 years and said this was the worst fire he has ever been involved in , in his life. That says alot cause he has been all over the state stopping fires along time.

From what I understand everything to the east of Tahition Dr is gone. Friend's MIL lives there. Yesterday house was fine today it is gone. They have lived there for 30 years.

A co-worker I work with lives east of Tahition Dr and is pretty sure his house burned down. Luckily he evacuated with his wife and pets in time.

I lived on Tahition Dr 12 years ago. Just past the Stop sign that is on the hill. You would go through the stopsign, go down, hill, up hill, down next hill, up the other, then our house was first on left side. Crazy.

My son in law said that those hills are stuffed with houses. Cant blame them the place was like heaven. Driving to and from austin every day for work 30 miles, I looked forward to getting back to heaven. But 11 years ago we decided to move closer to family, well that didnt work out, but my business boomed, but I still miss Tahition or heaven as I called it. Although I dont live there any more it makes me cry thinking of that place ashes. I use to live on east side of tahition drive. East on kannapalli the right on manawaunu. One bright spot of this earth GONE thanks alot bin laden

I say bring on more trucks and fire fighters. Why turn any professionals away from assisting?

Lived on Mauna Kea about 20yrs ago. My thoughts and prayers are with the families effected and the responding agencies.
