I drove home from San Antonio today Nothing but smoke the whole way. I sit outside at home in Temple and smell smoke. Smoke in every direction as far as you can see. Just terrible.
We need a hurricane to put these fires out. Can't destroy what is already destroyed. We need the water in a real, bad way.

I've been evacuated since Monday Fire has been on both sides of us and as close to us as a half a mile give or take. We are VERY fortunate so far. Remmington forest is gone. What I could see of it today anyways. The fire on Rice Road and 1488 is pretty big from what i've heard from people who were there when it started. Theres ashes all over the place and it seems like the whole world has a red tent to it. We are safe and sound at my MIL's. Pray for those who lost everything. And pray for the firefighters who aren't getting any sleep fighting this thing. Were nowhere close to being out of the woods yet.

The reported fire in the southeast part of Red River County yesterday was arson and has been mostly contained. The accused arsonist has also been arrested.

Was that the person who lit a newspaper and started the fire?

Its not getting much attention on the media around Austin due to Bastrop fire but keep your eyes on the fire in Cass/Marion Counties (far NE Texas) - its a monster. Some estimates are that it has destroyed almost 40k acres. All pine thicket and the slightest breeze keeps ingiting the undergrowth that didnt burn completely as the fire was jumping from pine top to pine top - starts everything back up again. Luckily it hasnt hit any really densely populated areas (YET) like the Bastrop fire but lots of propery lost and lives chnaged forever in that neck of the woods - unfortunately more to follow
