            My sliding compound miter saw threw a piece of oak at me last fall. Banged
            up my hand in a similar way. I still don't know what I did, but I was
            afraid to look at first, I thought I'd cut off my finger or something.

            Love my power tools though.

                  Well, I have to say that this is a first for me! In all my years, 10+ of which have been in the Fire/EMS field, I have NEVER seen a fingernail shattered like that! I've seen them ripped plum off, but nothing like that!

                    Sorry your hubby got himself injured. It looks painful but ought to be fine in a few weeks. Let the dog lick it and he will be good to go!
