    Talk about a tree for a stand!

    This was at the Melrose Plantation in Natchitoches La. One tree, "Live Oaks" had a core sample taken, over 350 years old!

          How is the age determined? we have 1/2 a dozen that size on our place in Atascosa cnty.

            You have to have the tool that bores in the tree and removes a sample. Then they count the rings. You might see if your county Ag agent can do it for you!!

                      The "Angel Oaks" in the Lowcountry of South Carolina (Where I was born and raised) are over 1500 years old. If you ever get over that way I suggest everyone to visit them!
