Out of State 4 Wheeler Title Question

    Guys and Gals,

Have a question for you - my uncle is giving me his 4 wheeler (pretty awesome and a great surprise - I have put my truck through heck this year on the lease so it will be nice to be able to use it instead). The title is Louisiana based. What do I need to do on my end to transfer the title to me in Texas? I just want to have all the paperwork with me etc when I go to pick it up in the next week or two. I have never dealt with an out of state title issue. Thanks in advance.

    Bonner

Why would you need to change it?
    Do you need to? Legally?

You don't. It's not required in Texas. Now, if you decided to trade it in you would need a clear title but for private party sales/ownership/opperation it is not required.

Brazos - lets assume I will be trading it in one day or selling it to someone else who wants a clear title. How do I go about getting this accomplished? is there a form or something i need to bring with me to my uncle for him to sign?

Not trying to be difficult - just want to have everything covered now in order to make transactions with the 4 wheeler easier in the future. Thanks.

I would assume your local county clerk woul take care of this for you.
That's who deals with titles.... Just guessing tho...

Go to the Tax Office where you register your vehicle and they can take care of it for you
