    Gun bluing/coatings

Does anyone know anyone who does bluing/coatings(reasonable) for guns in the Houston area? I have a 20g 0/u that needs some attention.

If you can get it to me in Bryan I can take care of you. HottBlue or regular?

Michael, how much for hot blue? I get to Bryan often. I considered duracoat but what to keep the classic look it's a ruger red label

there is a big difference in price between a matte finish vs. a high lustre blue

which is your original finish ?

About 4x more than a standard blue job. Your looking at around $200 for HottBlue depending on the prep work needed vs $50-$75 for a standard blueing. Again, it depends on the amount of prep work needed.

Brazos is very close on the above price quotes

figure $75 for a matte finish , and up to $225 for a high lustre blue

many gunsmiths have abandoned "controlled rust" finishes: a.k.a. bluing

lots of time tied up in the process ..... most GS's have switched to molycoat, duracoat, and H2O dipping

Not sure? I have a buddy here in town that's set-up to do duro jobs and has done mine in trade. Will find out for you.

duracoat can be applied with 1 color or many

prices range from $150 to $350 depending on the finish (complete gun, stock, etc...) and GS
