    2" Vanes And 4" Vanes?

Which Size Vanes Do You Hunt With, Because I Thought 2" Vanes Were For Target Practice, Am I Wrong On This?

2 inch in the past were for target.

a few years ago blazer came out with the wider 2 inch vanes which are great for hunting

It is all about controlling and steering your arrows, and also has alot to do with your setup and prefernce.

The new 2" (Blazers) are very effective for target and hunting, they are shorter but stiffer and actually can steer your arrows with a BH better (IMO).

Now the older more traditional 4" (like a Duravane) require more fletching to get the same type of spin arrow response because they are thinner and do tend to fold over, thus not generating as much arrow spin. This is also why some people put a hard helical when using this type of vane.

Either will work, but alot of people have changed to the small 2" Blazers.

Now, for traditional they obvisouly wont work.

You have a lighter arrow and less wind drag, so it makes since the arrow speed will increase.

I was told that the 4" vanes are "more forgiving". Dont know if thats true, but I was told to start out with them when I first got my bow. I started with em and am shooting good tight groups, dont see any reason to change.

2" blazers on 500 grain Ct Rhino hunting arrows and they group Thunderheads and Magnus 2-blades well out to 50 yards. I don't understand exactly why Blazers work as well as they do, but they're great. I fletch full helical btw.
