    Missing opening day

Well it looks like I will be missing my first opening day of bow season in years. A good buddy of mine owns a BBQ cooking wood company and I help him do promotions and cookoffs and he has been invited to the National Championships in Kansas City that weekend. We wont be competing ( he sponsored a guy that is ) we are just going to show up with his rig, advertise and help out the guy who is cooking any way we can. Should be a lot of fun but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bummed. Oh well, looks like I will have to take a few days off the following week!

So who else is going to miss the opener?

I'll be missing it too. For the first time in years I don't have a lease so I'll be watching the green screen looking for updates from everyone else.

I am. Don't thank I will ever make another opener if it's Oct. 1 or 2. Wife has a birthday on Sept 30. I guess that was poor planing on my part.

Not really all that excited about the opening of bow season due to the extreme heat and drought. Think I am going to wait a little until it cools down a bit if it ever does. It is thankfully a long season. My elk hunt in CO in Sept will help cool the ole trigger finger a little, hopefully.

I haven't hit an opening weekend in years.

Really haven't missed it.......prime time for fishing and surf with weather and temps still warm enough to enjoy. Once things get cold.....I'll then shift gears and think camo.

Kind of tough to get pumped up about a season opener, hunting with the heat and drought so awful this year, knowing the range conditions are gonna be brown like winter time, during October

                  I'm thinking rut...come mid-December I'll be out there.

I'm fortunate to have the week off this year, but if I had to miss it hanging out at a bbq cookoff would be the next best thing. Good luck and drink one for me!

I'll be missing it due to work. Have large project going on that will last until about the 17th of October. Hopefully I will be able to come into work late a few times..

I'll be missing it. Im going to go to a 4 10 work schedule so I can have a 4 day weekend every other weekend and my first long weekend will be the second weekend in October. 6+ hr drive to the lease means I plan to only go on my long weekends. But like others have said I just can't get motivated this year with the heat. Heck I have a hard time getting motivated to get the bow out to practice shooting.
