    Type 2 hunting

I'm going to get my type 2 hunting permit this weekend.I've never hunted type 2 before and was hoping i could get some help here.
Anyone know of some good type to land that is bow only?I'm not looking for your honey holes just type 2 areas known to produce.Any and all info would be much appreciated.I can't find much info online. My buddy says i will get a book that has all the info in it.But that don't sound right.I gotta get the license before i can see what areas i can hunt?
    Thanks guys!!!

I thought at first you were kidding but I just went thru the TWPD page on wma's and it says "only permit holders will receive a booklet listing areas" to hunt and their locations.....so yeah, I guess you have to buy the Type 2 license in order to find out WHERE they are!
Even if you didn't hunt, consider that the money spent will still go to the state in their support of the TWPD!
99% of most of the WMA'S are bowhunting only and there's plenty of areas within a 2 hour drive of Cedar Hill! Of course some are more active than others and more hunted and have more deer or hogs ........
Overall, I personally think its worth it!

Yea im going to get it.Even if it is just to hunt the one place i have heard is Type 2 (San Angelo State Park) it should be worth it.
Was just hoping someone on here may have some knowledge of a good property to hunt that is Type 2.
      Thanks Pat!

For $48 it's well worthit....you have to be willing to work for your hunting places and a deer. Alot of places are clearcut and very difficult to get into, if you hunt in Newton or Jasper cty units sometimes you have to deal with outlaws and dog hunters.I don't know how you hunt but a tree climber is almost a necessity. There is a good concentration of deer in some units.Moore Plantation is probably the safest unit. Good Hunting!

From Cedar Hill there's probably 5-8 different places you can go with type II.....and don't forget the Corp of Engineer land surrounding Whitney\Aquilla, or LBJ Grasslands straight up US 287, or Lake Waco or Bardwell or Navasota----they're all within about 2 hours of Cedar Hill....!!

Well...mmmmm. I hunt type II, I do LOTS OF RESEARCH online, listen, read and then do LOTS MORE RESEARCH online!
I've been self employed for over 10 years now and when not working I'm either hunting, reading, making phone calls, research-online & via phone calls & reading, did I mention hunting....
I'm a big supporter of free range, no fence, free hunting being self employed and just spend the time doing the reading and research.
                  Did I mention hunting too!

Alazan WMA in Nacogdoches County is bow only for deer and any public land in Newton county is bow only.
