I have now done this 3 different bucks. Here are the pictures of the first one. I have about 30 TC pictures of this guy, but I have included a picture another guy on the lease got on his camera. I included it because it has taken the same day that I killed the buck. He went by the other guys feeder and then got to mine right at dark.
This next buck was a large bodied son of a gun. He field dressed 140 pounds. He had been going to a friend's setup almost everyday and I planned on filming my buddy killing him. We were getting ready for the evening hunt and my friend said you know that buck comes in better in the morning so lets try it then. I said ok and went to hunt the other side of the ranch. I had no pictures of him from over there but he showed up at 4:00. I sent my buddy a text telling him that there was no need to worry about filming in the morning...
And then from this year...here is bugeye.
Another guys picture from last year.
One of the many pictures that I had gotten this year.
This is a deer that I have alot of history with. I have 3 years worth of TC pics of him. He was a huge bodied 8 that was probably at least 7 maybe even 8 years old. This deer is a hill country deer and they just don't grow em' like this around here! His was 215 lbs live weight! We do protein feed alot but the biggest one prior to this one in the 15 years records have been kept on this ranch was 190 lbs.
I encountered this deer each and every year in the past 3 years but he has always outsmarted me! He was just a very smart, elusive old man! I have never killed a deer with such a big body. Not the biggest racked deer I've shot but for sure ranks right up there with my best if not my best trophy to date because of the history!
TC Pic This Year!
You can see how big his body is here. Entrance right behind the shoulder, he was quartering pretty hard away from me.
You know I'm a pretty stout fella, but it took everything my brother and I had to get this joker in the Mule! Dead weight, long legs = PITA!!
Here you can see the exit in front of his shoulder. Blew right through the heart!
Told ya!
I just couldn't believe it! It just kept going and going!
