Rangers Baseball: The Stretch Run!

Man I love pennant race baseball! The boys handled the Angels pretty well this weekend after getting embarrased by the red socks......but their work is far from done. They need to make up a game or at least not loose any ground to LAAoA between now and the closing set with them, this is where the proverbial rubber meets the road!

Scooter Feldman getting the start tonight against Tampa....scary!

Nelly is out for 3 weeks at least with his spaghetti hamstring.

Super-prospect Leonys Martin has been called up to take Nelly's roster spot. Not sure when he'll get on the field, but this kid is supposed to be the real deal. I can't wait to see him play.

I think I heard that Beltre is making a rehab start in Frisco tonight, or maybe RR......say a little baseball prayer that he doesn't tweak anything. We do NOT need Mike Young at 3rd down the stretch.....

Martin and Beltre cannot come back or take the field until they expand the rosters on Aug.1. I am more interested in seeing what pitching comes up and how they use them to spell the fatigued pitchers like Harrison, Ogando and Holland. Maybe even Colby could use a little breather. The red shoed Rangers can either finish it for good, or make it a struggle til the end!! I am hoping for a quick close out of the AL West!!

I heard they used Nelly's Roster spot for Martin? And I'm pretty sure Quintanilla will go away when it's time for Beltre to come back.......either way, rosters expand on Thursday.

Michael has been fine at third, not great but very adequate. Don't know where we would be without him. Losing Nelly will hurt, don't know why he has such a leg muscle problem. Seen alot of supplements (not illegal) cause muscle troubles. Feldman tonight is scary. Could cause the bullpen to be used up at the beginning of a series.

Sure hope that we can be 4 games ahead by the Angels series so we can get the rotation right for the playoffs.

Beltre was obviously brought in as a 3rd baseman/power hitting, RBI guy. So, with him gone, there's not much else they can do. I'm with you on not having Young there but what is our choice??

Pitching is where I'm worried. It's almost like the pitching puzzle has been solved by the other teams and all we can hope to do is outscore them. I'm sure not impressed with Urethra at this point.

Oh, and wherever Pedro Borbon is, please leave him there!!!! Oh, and can we send Darren Oliver wherever Pedro is??

I agree, Travis. I was worried about having Young on the field at the beginning of the year, but he has been clutch most of the time - especially at the plate, but in the field some too. Pitching was the biggest concern early in the year for me, and it still is. Hopefully, they can make some roster changes at those positions that will help for the post season.

I have faith the Rangers will win the west, I just hope they clinch before those last three games in Anaheim. It would be some very dramatic baseball if they went into that series with a 1 game lead but I don't think my heart can take it!

Glad to see some sports talk going on besides Ags to SEC.

Nellie being gone sucks but with the rise of Napoli and Murphy hitting a little better I don't think he will be missed as much as he was earlier in the year. He's been kinda streaky here lately anyway. Don't get me wrong, I want him in the lineup, but those two rising bats and the addition of Beltre should put us in pretty good shape.

Young has been doing great at 3rd! He made some outstanding plays there over the last several games I watched.

Are they at home tonight? For some reason I was thinking they were playing a 9 or 10 game road stretch starting in Tampa Bay!

Young can catch anything that's close to him, but Elvis has been covering 70 of the 90 feet between second and third. Young has been clutch in the hitting and a good backup, but he is just needed to bat.
