The backstory is that my grandfather-in-law recently passed away, leaving my wife and her two brothers an extensive firearm collection. Although most are antique, there are some guns in there that don't necessarily go with the collection. The family recently made a decision to auction the collection, and in the process of getting ready for it, we divided up some of the "shooters" that we're interested in.
At the end of the process, I took a 3rd series Colt Woodsman, new in the box. I'm the only one who knows anything about gun values and, given that it was a later model, guesstimated a $750 value for it. As a result, it worked out more or less equally between all of us as far as the values were concerned.
However, when I got home I notice that it was actually a Match Target grade Woodsman in the box, not just a regular Woodsman. In doing a little digging, the only one NIB that I found on the internet was selling for $3200. That seems extremely high to me, but I'm starting to feel guilty. I can't really take it if it means I screwed my brothers-in-law out of almost $2500. Does anyone have a Blue Book handy or have any information on it? If it's just a couple of hundred dollars more, I'll just pay them. But if it's more than that, I'll just put it back in the vault and find something else.
Thanks!
