I am running Kenda Bear Claws on my mule. Generally we get 500 hours out of a set of tires. I have over 400 so far and they still look new. They are a very hard rubber I have never had any flats or even had to add air. About to order another set for our other mule this week.
I have the same situation and have asked the question on the Honda forums. The almost unanimous response was Maxxis Bighorns but I have yet to pull the trigger.
Maxxis Bighorn's seem to be the most popular right now. They have a tight tread pattern which should help protect against thorns. They are also omnidirectional which means you can actually rotate your tires to increase the life of your investment. I currently am running factory tires on my Ranger, but Bighorns will be the next set I buy.
I had Mudlite xtr's These are radials and handled everything I threw at them well. Great for trail, and the occasional mudhole you run upon. I had mine in Junction and were rugged enough to withstand the sharp rocks and the Cactus!

any tire with more ply than the factory will be a tuffer tire... I run factory take offs with a bottle of slime in each one... I would like to get me another set of mudlites (i think they are 6 or 8 ply)
