    Protected the game camera

No water on 400 acre place except for this water trough. Got tired of our danged cows bumping my game camera so placed it INSIDE a concrete whistle turned up on it's end. Now that $%*&@ bull can scratch his butt on the whistle, not my camera t-post!!

First 179 photos over 5 days showed ZERO wildlife using it. I am offshore now but will be back Sept 10th. Will see if any wildlife got their photo made then. Camera is set up just North of Cross Plains in Callahan County. Whole place looks brown & dead like the grass in the background of the photo. Depressing to say the least. We have been in a drought since September 2010 in Cross Plains. Supposed to be raining there now but temps over 100 degrees will be hard to overcome.

        Thanks for your comments.

Never heard a culvert called a whistle.

                  Looks like it'll work!

1500 lb bull will walk right over that if he takes a mind to--but if he just wants to scratch an itch, should be OK.

Actually it is around 5 ft tall & over 3 ft outside diameter. Yeah, he could push it over but I am ready to take him to the Livestock Sale in Coleman anyway! We are down to 13 cows so he has started "looking for female companionship elsewhere". Really tired of repairing fences. Wish he would learn to get out & come back at the same place on the fence every time! Will be back on dry land in 2 weeks & hope to persuade Dad to let me haul him off then.

Yeah kfd82, guess it is actually a culvert. My bad! lol Kind of like the "tank or pond" discussion, huh?

Heck yeah, call it what you want. I've just never heard that before.

Dang Larry, it looks dry there. I put a little trough out here at the house and got pictures of all the normal stuff plus several coyotes that I didn't know were coming this close to the house.

                              Later buddy.
