Finished skull mount and pedestal from last year

Here is my south Texas bow buck from last year. The skull has been done for quite a while but I just put the finishing touches on the pedestal and called it done. The pedestal is made from rough cut mesquite. The base and plaque were just sanded and had a clear coat applied to help protect and give a hint of shine. The pole was turned on a lathe.

I think this might be the route I go from here on out with skull mounts as I really like the way it turned out.

I'm also trying to picture the base as a solid piece just cut at an angle like you have with the bark left on and then maybe shaved down a small square and woodburn the information into the base like the kill date, score, location
