I have the iPhone with at&t can anybody tell me how to block a number? Is there some sort of app

You need to add the "Smart Limits" option with AT&T first. Then you log on to your account and add the numbers you want to block.

If its jailbroke there is an app called iBlacklist. You can use it to block numbers.
Not sure if the app store has anything like it.
