I think sometimes people go overboard with noise supression.
IMO, that's like saying you've got too much money! LOL
My personal test revealed that the 4" duravanes make more noise than a blazer.
I didn't include QS's in the test because my pro-shop indicated that they didn't like them.
Pretty darn quiet bow there Mr. Shurley. Here's a shot sequence made from this same blind using another Hoyt shooting 2 inch Blazer vanes. As you can see from the Laser nock, the deer (all 6 of them) didn't budge till the arrow thumped the buck. Shot was 22 yards with the doe on my bucks immediate left standing with her rump roughly 20 yards away from the blind. Note the deer movement after the arrow hits, starts it clear through the boiler room before you see any reaction from Odocoileus virginianus. Even though the arrow is moving slower than sound, the bow noise coupled with arrow noise did not bother these animals till after it was too late.
Nope...too noisy for me. I shoot Blazers, too. My setup ain't broke so I'm not going to do any fixing.
I fletched 3 arrows w/ qs and they started wrinkling up like the stock veins, reminded me why I went to the blazers in the 1st place. Ill stay w/ the blazers
I tried them, and didn't really care for them. They were hard to get right in my clamp because if that tail thing. had to add tape to the clamp to hold the base flat. They did stabilize my arrow quickly, and as far as noise I couldn't tell a difference really. Beatty and Rob seem to have some pretty strong credentials for their effectivness.
I shot the 2 and 1/4 inch QS and i found them to have a problem with fixed blade broadhead....That was out of my set up. The four in vanes are much better. I am now shooting duravanes 4 inch.
