Keller to Lubbock, best route ?

I am going to Lubbock on a business trip, what would be the best route and about how long of a drive, thanks.

Some take 114 to Lubbock from the north part of the metromess. I live in the Weatherford area and most people take I20 past Sweetwater then north on 84 to Lubbock. I prefer to take 180 through Mineral Wells, Breckenridge, Albany and on to Snyder where you turn north on 84. The 180 route is shorter mileage-wise but takes about the same time as going I20 because of the small towns you go through. I just like that drive better. My guess is from Keller you are looking at at least 5 hours.

20 to 84 is faster and less trouble, 114 is more scenic and takes you through the Pitchfork, and the 6666s.

If you don't mess around, and I don't imagine you do......20-84 will take you 4:35 or so.

It depends on how you like to travel. If you like scenery and like to occasionally push the speed up then I'd take 114 to Bridgeport then jump on 380 til you get to Post. If you want to put it on cruise and don't care about the scenery then I'd take I-20 to Sweetwater then cruise on in on 84.

I took 114 to and from school....... but it was because of the scenery and animals.

If you got a lead foot and wanna fly 20-84 then up.

How about the construction on 20? I have not been out that way in a few weeks but there was a stretch of I20 between Weatherford and Cisco that was down to one lane in each direction - has that opened back up? If not, it will be quite a bottleneck on a heavy traffic day.

Thanks guys, I am going to take the scenic route, not really in a big hurry, have a meeting in the morning and then probably going over to Silverton to hang out with my son for a little while, his company just started a big construction project out there, they are building the platforms for the transmission lines that are circling Ammarillo, I think it is going to be for all the wind generating that is going on out there. From there I think I will swing back through Crowell and Vernon to check our places for dove, probably be home late tomorrow, headed out the door now, thanks.

I always tried to hit The 6666 ranch about dusk...... you talk about seeing some deer. They used to have a huge wheat field right between town and there headquarters that was chalk full of deer.

Wheat may not be up now though.

I think you are making the right choice bud
