I am fixing to start working on a stand in the shop I can put in a small matress. After sitting for 6 hours in a tree stand Saturday night my back was killing me. I dont get out until I kill something or I cant stay awake any longer.

This time of year I usually look at the trail cam pics and see when they are moving and let that be my guide. In Deer season usually till 11am and back out at 2pm. Cant killthem if your not out there. Also been known to sleep in on full moons and go out as everybody is coming in from the morning hunt. Lots of deer movement mid day on a full moon.

morning hunt - 6:00 to around 9:30 a.m.
Evening - 4:30 till dark, which I consider not being able to see the feeder 20 yards away. I hunt in fairly thick woods, so when it starts getting dark, it happens fast. There have been many times when stuff has come in just about the time it was too dark to take a shot.
Also note that once daylight savings is over, those times will shift back an hour.
Those are my typical times, however, subject to change based on any patterns or certain deer appearing on camera. If there is a full moon, I'll hunt more of the 9:00 through mid-afternoon. If its one of those cool, overcast, semi-rainy type of days, I'll sit throughout the day. However, if its not a full moon or one of those type of days, the deer at our place typically don't move during the day. Prime time is 30 minutes after sunrise and 30 minutes before sunset.

Morning
5:30am-9:30am
Afternoon
3:30pm until I cant see with optics
Now I have been known to stay later during the morning hunt as the biggest deer I have taken was killed at 12:20pm, after seeing nothing all morning. I generally can sit longer in the stand during the morning hunt rather then afternoon because we generally get more movement in the mornings

My time in the stand varies based on different factors. But I started a routine years ago of committing (to myself) to stay until a certain time, regardless of how I feel about the hunt. I can't tell you how many times I've been MORE THAN ready to leave, but stayed a few more minutes until the 'time' came and ended up getting to see and/or harvest a critter.

In the am from 5:30 til 10:00 or 11:00 depending on weather.
Int the evening from 3:30 till well after dark.
Or----until something bleeds.
Longest sit was 16hrs a few years ago in mid October when i was after old 18 point Many Horns. An 11 yr old kid killed him first week of gun season on the next property.
Also depends on how much toilet paper I brought with me.
