If you let it come in direct contact with the feeder, have you had any problems?

Gramps has one and that's how his is. No problems yet. I'm pretty sure it was intended to be used that way so you don't lose corn while driving around.

That is how I use mine with no issues. It is supposed to be right up next to the funnel. Keeps the corn in the barrel and not on the spinner place.

I am pretty sure they are designed to be used with a funnel like shown and it will make contact with the plate...

I dont think I was very clear about my question, but I think I have my answer anyway. I need to get a funnel to come in contact with the spinner plate, and having the plate contact the bottom of the drum without a funnel is not effective.

I don't let mine contact the funnel. I leave just enough room that I can see yellow of the corn.

And yes, it's designed to be used with a spout. I buy the 1 piece funnels from Boss Buck that have the spout as part of the funnel.
