    Best Dodge Diesel?

I am looking to buy a used Dodge diesel. What in TBH opinion is the best Cummins engine and year model. Looking to buy something used between an 2003-2008 because thats around the price range I can probably afford. Just now started looking so open to suggestions.

The reason I have choose Dodge is because I have a 2004 Dodge Crew Cab 3/4 Hemi 2wd. I have had it since from 61,000 and it now has 149,000 miles and I have not had one single issue, not one. (knock on wood) I am looking to get something with a little more pulling power though.

    TBH thoughts...?

Ford and Chevy comments and suggestions will be ignored

    Dodge Only please.

only get the 5.9 diesel engine. That is the best and most reliable

I would have to say 5.9. Had one and lived it. Now have the new 6.7 and can not say anything bad about it. I just can't take all the emissions junk off without voiding warranty. Also mileage is a whole lot better on the 5.9. Hope this helps. The perfect set up would be if you can find an 07/.5. They have the 5.9 with the 6 speed auto tranny.

5.9. We have 2 of them both 2003s. Best mileage on a truck of that size, real solid engine. Pulled my fork lift and trailer 11,000lbs on friday and could barely tell it was back there. Also got 15.3mpg.

I have an 07 dually I got right off of this here green screen. It has the 5.9 and it is awesome! I can get (if I drive right) 20mpg on the highway. Pulls great. I have only had to replace the breaks (this week) at 70K miles.

I have an 06 with 34" mud tires, no lift, auto trans, short bed. I get about 14 average, but keep in mind, I live within a mile of my primary work location, so it's almost all city driving and short trips. Also, keep in mind, I have heavy front and rear replacement bumpers, and a heavy camper shell with metal framework underneath, plus a hydraulic lift under the camper and I generally have several hundred lbs of "stuff" in the bed.
