You were trying to price match two identical products, but different brands.

For instance, you can't look at a 40" Sony TV at Cons and then ask Best Buy to price match for a 40" Samsung. Same product, different brands.

I know it sucks, but standard for retail. Most price match gurantees are very misleading...
I hear what you are saying. My point is that she said they would price match UNTIL SHE HEARD THE PRICE........not where the corn is from or even what brand.......it was the price that changed things.

Like I said earlier, it's not like I didn't get any corn. I did. And I got it for $6.99 per 40#. I just found it odd that's all.

I personally do not think there is a hill of beans difference in one bag of corn to another. the worst corn I have ever bought in Lubbock was at GM, all sticks, rocks and cobs. Corn I have bought at Academy and Wal Mart has always been clean and i have never had a problem. Then corn I bought before this load was from HF&C feeds out near Wolfforth and it was clean, but very dusty and broken up kernels. This is the first time I have bought corn from Wal Mart that was bad. I will buy from Academy or Wal Mart, but only if I can confirm that it has been inside and not outside in what one rain storm we had a couple of weeks ago. By the time i need anymore, hopefully someone has bought up all the "moldy" corn from Wal Mart!

Well thanks to your earlier thread, I went to the Walmart on Quaker and the Loop. I got mine inside so HOPEFULLY it will be ok.

I hope it is good too. If it has been inside it should be good to go.

I asked the girl at the register if they had any corn left because I hadn't seen any out front or in their normal display areas. She said that they had some in the outdoor boat area. I asked if it was clean and she thankfully let me know that they had some folks return some lately due to mold. So, needless to say, I passed on buying the corn at Gander. I grabbed a flyer and called Tractor Supply as I left. I asked the girl who answered if they matched prices. She said they did on all feed items. I asked if that included deer corn. She said yes, but what is the price. I told her and she told me that they wouldn't match the price because they sell a superior grade corn and everybody else sells dirty corn.

So my question is why did she say she would match the price until she heard what it was? It's not like $6.99 for a 40 lb bag is a world beater price. Even if it was, you either match prices or you don't. Right?

And I agree that dirty (anything that will clog your feeder) corn sucks. But she didn't claim superiority until she heard the price.

And for the record, I was nice to the girl on the phone. It wasn't her fault. She was following orders.
So the corn you have previously purchased from TSC was moldy, as you say it was not any better than what you get at GM. If that is the case they should they match the price. If TSC has edible corn and GM does not why would you sell it at the same price?? Most of the time the retailer knows exactly what product your are talking about when you give them a price and know if their product is an equivalent or an upgrade.

I have purchased from both places and neither had moldy corn. We had a large rain storm one night several weeks ago. This is the cause of the random mold issues at every place in town. The quality of the corn in the bag doesn't matter when it comes to mold. Food grade corn will mold if it gets wet. She said theirs was cleaner. It's not. I've used both.

Was the corn in the exact same bag from the same mill? If not why would they price match? Thats like going to a price match different kinds of boots. They all go on your feet but some people are willing to pay more for leather from a particular company.

I filter my corn any way when putting it into the feeders so it doesn't matter to me, but it sounds like your lady at TSC has had some one call with the same price after finding out that GM has nasty moldy corn and a mangaer was smart enough to catch on!

There is a big difference in corn. Especially this year. I bought mine from Tractor Supply and it is still not great, but usable. Not so for some I've seen from other places. I don't blame them for not selling you their usable corn for the same price as someone else's moldy corn. It seems like your only issue is why did she need to know the price first. The manager had probably told her not to match price below a certain level, knowing that anything below that level had to be crappy corn. Just my guess.

Same thing happened to me at academy a month or so ago. Showed them BPS corn ad and academy wouldn't match it cause it was "not the same corn". Bs!

Maybe after hearing the price then they knew it was the moldy stuff that ppl are complaining about. Just my 2cents

If you'll get you an Ultramatic 12V feeder like mine you can stuff the stalks, ears, bags, and parts of the combine in there.......and she will spit out corn!
