I was told that my igintion switch may be bad in my sami. Was thinking about putting a toggle switch and starter button in instead. Anyone know how to do this?

the problem is all the other stuff that comes on when you turn the key.
I was going to see if I can keep the key for the stuff that turns on with the key, then use the button and switch to start it.
I'm not very good with electrical.

You should be able to just do a start button when the key is on I had it in my E250 work van but it was already in when I bought it used. I know they used like electrical wire like you use to wire house and that was run to started and then they had another wire going to the wires under the dash and when I turned the key on I pushed the button and it started.

If your radio, fan etc all work with the key on but it won't start when you turn the key further it could be several things.... Assuming the solenoid is good and your battery is good.... A push button (Momentary swith) would be an easy patch though.... Just pick up 12v constant from your fuse panel, wire that to one side of the push button.. The other wire will go to the starter (soleniod).... When you turn the key on, push the button and it sends 12v to the starter solenoid... B/C the switch is momentary there is no need for a toggle...

Check the solinoid wire for good contact. They can and will get dirt, grease on them and lose contact. Pull the small wire off of the tab on the solinoid and clean good. Take a pair of plyers and slightly crimp the connector on the wire. Plug it back in and try it. If it has been working correctly lately and just stopped....do check the battery. This hot weather is hard on batteries. You can purchase push button starter kits and install or you can roll your own. Easiest way is a wire to the positive post of battery through the switch with a fuse (don't know the amperage off the top of my head) back out to the starter solinoid....the tab you just checked. Key to second stop and hit switch.
