Posting on the good folks forum, all is not negative

    I sold my boat today.
Folks drove 300 miles to come look at this thing. I was honest with them and they the same. In fact there was no bargaining, when he was writing the check I told him to back it off a bit to pay my minimum.
Was a great transaction where we both were happy and actually ended up having mutual freinds through hunting boards.
In the world of hearing about buttheads it is a pleasure to do a deal with nice folks who believe in the handshake method.
I will fish in my boat again, I have an open invitiation from the new owner.

Good folks exist even outside hunting forums. As most of you know, my wife is a professional racehorse owner/trainer (www.garnettracing.com) and sold a horse yesterday. YIPPEE!!!!!! (Sorry but I am the one who has to find the hay for 21+ head of horses! OK, back to story)

A gentleman from Tyler area had seen one of her horses on equineworld.com or one of the sites & planned to drive down to Groesbeck to purchase it. She was worrying about whether the horse would "fit" him because it has been in race training for many months & is quite frankly a handful right now. He was planning to use it as an occasional riding horse on his place. She talked to him several times on the phone and tried to tactfully direct him to a different, more gentle horse for about $1,000 LESS that we have for sale. Nope, no dice.....he was coming to purchase Dasher.

Well, he showed up with his trailer & a pocket of $100 bills to buy the horse. After visiting with him for a while, she realized that Dasher would have a good home & the gentleman had a pretty good idea of how to handle the horse. No bartering on price, my wife warned him of the possible problems he might face, he appreciated her honesty, & they both were happy about the transaction.

I just wish that all horse trades could be this pleasant. Not attempting to hijack this posting but it sure is refreshing to find good people in this world. I think that perhaps the sorry rascals get all the headlines & we forget about the silent MAJORITY of good, decent people out there.
