I delivered my oldest baby girl to Aggieland today. She's ready to take on the next phase of her life and excited about her opportunities. One of the hardest things I've ever done was get in that truck and head south on HWY 6, leaving her there. I do know that I've raised a responsible, hardworking, dedicated, Christian, young woman. She'll screw up and when she does she'll fix it. I know she's ready for life without Daddy....I hope Daddy is ready for life without Katelyn. Please keep me in your prayers. No tears today, but only because she and I had a great talk night before last and I got 'em out then. Twenty years ago, I moved to College Station and TAMU, leaving my parents and everything I knew behind. Coincidentally, a couple of years later I left college because I found out I was gonna be a Daddy and needed a job. Seems like yesterday I was bringing her home from the hospital...with an Aggie tshirt under her little white dress no-less.
To those of you with young children...Don't take one day for granted. I cannot explain to you the speed in which her youth passed. Appreciate every day, every picture, every story, every drama-filled girl issue, every recital, every sporting event....EVERYTHING. One day you'll realize that those moments were fleeting and all you'll have left are memories of your little girl, as you kiss your grown-up girl goodbye.
