ants, the big red ones do it alot,, always called them cutter ants,, unless one got on me then it was called -------- something else ant,, and if the stung or bit i wont repeat it
If you follow their trail, you'll eventually find their mounds--piles of fluffy-looking dirt, maybe around bases of trees, but sometimes just in the open. Can be from one to 50+ mounds in an area. They can strip a tree (or landscape shrubbery) overnight too.
