    Favorite 'Huntin' Hat...

Saw this subject on another site. Like many of you, I've traveled and hunted half way 'round the world. Hats are about as personal to a fella as their favorite cigar.

I'll start with one of my all-time go-to toppers, a PENDLETON Wool "Crusher".

Me and this hat have been through every type of weather, from the Haul Road to Freer.

    WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE Huntin' HAT?

Had this one for about 5 years and wear it pretty much every day. Its by far my favorite hat

I wear any ol hat when I hunt. But got an unrelated question for you. Does that leather work glove stick to the string and roll ormdo you get a good release off it I've often thought about how nice it would be to just use a glove

          Not sure.

I'm in the market for something that shades all the way around my neck.

Had a really worn broken in camo hat that had a UT longhorn on the front and I left it at the rope swing on the lake..

              Brannon,
I might just have to craft one for you... soon.

              Glen,
I've used a Wells LaMont DEERSKIN work glove for many, many years. I was in the Bridgers long ago, with all the 'latest' and 'best' equipment. Took a tumbling roll down a drainage one morning. The bow and me were fine, but I could not find my 3-finger glove.

As I headed out the next mornin', my host said "Where's yer finger protector?" I relayed the events of the previous day (lost a fancy pair of binos too, and too embarrassed ~to young and uselessly prideful~ to say anything about it all, that day).

He reached through the window of his truck and brought out a brand new pair of those gloves, and handed them to me.

              ...I've never looked back.

I generally get 2-3 years out of one (give the lefties to Southpaws I know)... shooting between 120-150 arrows a day, six days a week, 50 weeks a year average.

Here's a pic of one a few years back that was a part of several grand hunts:

Oh, and to answer your question about release... the first time I ever pulled the string with one of these, I loved how 'tactile' it was. I could feel everything about the string/shot, sort of like wearing moccasins in the woods.

But the string comes off as smooth and consistent as can be.

Thanks. Gonna try a pair today. I shoot a Dura Glove but they are easy to loose and shooting bare is kinda tough on me

Columbia makes some really nice ones for that. I have real light material one got it from Academy. Works great when I am on the tractor. My current favorite hunting hat is my camo Maxey Trailer hat. It's been lucky for me.

My father had a favorite hat that he wore always when hunting. It was a stetson "rancher"very well worn. One saturday afternoon, downtown,he ran into his preacher. The preacher said" I see you've got your Sunday Hat on....Dad replied,"No preacher, that's my hunting hat" The preacher replied" That's what I said".Needless to say Dad was in church the following Sunday.

This year, my bear guide Remi, in Quebec, fell in love with everything that was awesome about that hat. When he asked if he could have it, I couldn't say no, so it has a new Canadian home now.

Unless the weather is really cold I like to hunt in a "boonie" hat from a military surplus store. I have a black one for wearing in a blind and a camo boonie for stand hunting.

I have hunted 10+ yrs and killed most of my bow hunts with the hat I am wearing in my avatar. I have gotten attached to it.
