My oryx will be ready next week

My Taxidermist called me to ask if would be ready to pick up/pay for my Oryx next week. I told him yes and asked if I could drop by to see the work in progress. He said no problem and I droped by this afternoon.

Here is the pic of my Oryx (shot on Ft-Bliss last march) with the antlers set. He was working on setting the eyes and building the eye lids and forms for the ears. The hide was in the tanning solution.

Cant wait to be bring it home.

By Oryx do you mean the Gemsbok they have out there? I did some training out there a couple of years ago and saw many of them running around. They are magnificent animals. I would love to have the opportunity to hunt one some day. Congrats on your trophy.

I meant to ask in my first post but what was the length of those horns? The horn character leads me to believe it was a bull but I could be wrong as I am still trying to learn as much as I can about these animals tonprepare for my hunt.

It was an old bull. 35 inch long and 7 1/2 inch around the bases. He should score SCI bronze by about 5 inches. Cows score better due to their horns being longer but a lot thinner. I prefer the look of bull horns but at the shooting ranges it is hard to say if it's a male or female.
