    I't that time again...

I'm heading out to the lease in the morning around 0330 to check feeders, check the game cams, set-up a new stand and to perch myself on my feeder stand to see what's eating the corn.

If you're in the Crocket, Alto, Rusk, Wells area give me a shout. I will have some 30-06 and 300 Win Mag rounds with me for the folks that wanted to get some.

If you need a TBH express the train leaves Bryan at 0330 and will be in Alto at 0530. It will depart Alto no later than 1400. PM/post here B4 2100 tonight if you want me to deliver anything. I'll check the green screen from time to time tomorrow when I have 4G.

Right! This is my first year to use cameras. I was dead set against them for the logest because I thought it would spoil the opening day excitement of not knowning. Now I think I'm even more excited (like a kid in a candy store) wondering if I'll see what the cams have captured...

No joke! My lease work day last month I drank 3 gal of water and didn't go to the RR not 1 time. Going to take the 5 gal jug this time!!!

I'm with you right up to that point. But instead of "our big annual work weekend" it would read "my big annual work weekend". I'll fill feeders and check stands at 13 setups this weekend. By myself as far as I know

I don't really mind and have the time to do it. As a bonus I will do a TBH express with a deer mount and be glad to do it

Brent, if you see this my truck is almost loaded and ready to roll (waiting for it to cool off before I put the mount in my truck).

                            Lease pics

I got so ticked off this morning! I am about to leave Brazos Co on the way to the lease when I see 3 young (2ish) 6 pointers with and average spread of 15"+-. One of the young bucks starts out into the Highway and the 18 wheeler in front of me hammers down on it sending black smoke everywhere and a dead deer in the road. I just don't understand some people.

Anyway, I went to the lease and got some work done. I'm soOoo glad I picked up some batteries! My feeder and all 3 cams were dead. All I got is 3 picks of a doe and her fawn on all 3 cams. I know there's some bucks because I spooked one going in this morning. I walk up 50 yards from him and I stop. This was about 5:45 am. He looks up stomps, snorts and takes off. I heard him just after he was out of sight in the woods blow at me.

Here's a couple pics from todays labor and our little fawn.

                            young doe

                            young doe and fawn 1

                            young doe and fawn 3

                            critter hole

                            mineral lick

new stand location. Note: This is my late evening stand @ 100 yards from their bedding area.

The pic that upsets me the most, our spring dried up! Cool, clear water use to bubble up out of the ground. The soil is even dry...

I don't understand hitting a deer on purpose. The black smoke was probably from his engine brake (jake brake).
