I am wanting to start to video my hunts and I do not know the first thing about what type or model of camera is the best. i.e. Mini DV, Digital 8 or whatever else there is. What type of mount are you guys using for the camera from a treestand vs. a ground blind. Basically any light that anyone can shed on this subject would be great! Thanks in advance for all your help on this.

I went through about every post in the video section and I am not sure where to start. From what I gathered, is Mini DV the way to go or Hard drive? I guess the first thing is to figure out what camera is the best for me. I would like to keep the camera below $1500, but if I cant get a good enough one for that price I might need to spend a little more. Tell me what you think.

Get a good Manfrotto tripod leg set and fluid tripod head for hunting from the ground. Move the fluid head to something like this for hunting a tree:
Simply put, it's a Realtree EZHanger with a 3/8" allthread welded in along with a larger washer welded to it. The tripod head screws right to it. It works well.
You might invest in the "It's All About the Video" DVD that was produced by some of us here.
Go to the main page and order it up. It will answer many questions.

i do video for the military, and minidv is the best way to go. you can get a camera for a pretty decent price, and it is so small and convenient. you might want to look into what they call "lipstick" cameras, they are small and compact, you could operate one in each arm ! i am not sure as far as mounting and such, but if you are interested, i can hook you up with someone who can give you more details, and even film the hunt for a fraction of what you might expect (he's wanting to get exposure, does it for a living)
