    pop up question

Ok say you have deer coming to a feeder, how soon before season starts do you put up a pop uo blind? This is Cass Co in E. Tx and 1100 acres..

Brian, East Texas deer are spooky. I would put up the popup as early as feasable just to be sure. Most of the state, they adjust pretty easily to something different, but East Texas...they are just different and don't cooperate. With a little pressure, they go nocturnal.

It doesn't matter if it fades. It's not like they can't see it when it's camo. They just need to get used to it. When you put it up, pour a bag or two of corn on the ground around it, just a couple of feet away from the blind. If they get right up close to it and eat, they'll feel comfortable with it after that.

I would say as soon as possible. Mine has been up all year and they are really used to it.

You shoulda put it up yesterday Seriously, put it up as soon as you can just like Shane said. Deer know every inch of the woods, especially the routes they travel regularly. They will notice something different but will get used to it.

In Colorado county, I leave mine up all year long since I hunt hogs too. I have my pop ups anchored to a wood floor. Sure they fade but I buy some cheap Krylon pray paint in green and brown and repaint/spray it where/when necessary. It helps to waterproof the pop up and the deer don't care that it's not a leafy camo pattern. Good luck in your season!!

Do it now. You could hunt out of a white styrofoam box if you get it out early enough and they get used to it.

To be completely honest if you know how, where and when to use a pop up you can set it up the day you hunt.. I pretty much only hunt out of a double bull and when i go to my grandpas in childress i set it up the day i start hunting.. And everytime i have deer within 10 yards of me..But i brush the crap out of it.

Pop ups are all about brushing them in.. Most guys are to lazy to utilize a pop up to its full potential.> It normally on avg takes me 2 hrs to brush in my blind.. But here is why..

The tree cover will help you with the fading and to answer your question, yes I would go ahead and set it up.
