    Backpacker GPS Trails

I finally downloaded the full version of this on android. I'm pretty impressed. I placed waypoints at every pond, feeder, stand, etc on our 1200 acre ranch. Then I got a good wifi connection and scanned over the entire ranch at levels of zoom from viewing the entire ranch to as far as I could zoom in. It uses satellite imagery so you can really get a sense of landmarks. It stores the imagery on the phone so I don't need a connection to load them (I don't have a connection at the ranch.) The imagery is only taking up 8Mb of space on my SD card. It is also able to use the magnetic compass in the phone to get direction when I'm moving slowly or standing still.

You can also change the map source and use topographic, terrain, and street maps. Topo is great for finding good spots for stands.

So basically, I get full color satellite maps stored on my phone with waypoints and can navigate with gps and not use a ton of battery by putting the phone in airplane mode. I know my way around pretty well, but when I'm tromping around in the woods at night, especially since the landscape has changed after the fires, it will come in useful.

I've had the lite version for a while, along with backcountry something and mytracks. After getting the full version, it's night and day, and it's amazing.
