    Doe permit question

I hunt in Houston county and the TPWD regulations only allow does to be shot with a permit during most of general season and few days here and there without a permit. Archery season is not regulated.

The property is only 159 acres. I talked to TPWD and they stated we will need a survey and file paperwork and whatnot.

Question: Is the survey of the property free? If anybody has any expeience with doing this please offer me some advice or opinions.

    Thanks in advance!

You will have to get on a Type 2 or 3 MLD. Im not sure but think it wold be hard on 150 acres. Just goto TPWD site and look for the regulations. You might be able to get a few permaits but then they also regulate your buck harvest. Im involved with a MLD and we are suppose to harvest 139 does and I think 14 bucks this year.

I belive the survey they are speaking of is really just a deer count that you and your fellow hunters must fill out stating how may bucks, does, and fawns you see over a certain time period. I have a small place in Colorado Co only 100 acres, we are MLD level 1 and this is all we do. We also turn in a harvest data sheet at the end of the season. Find out Who your biologest is in your county. They are very helpful and love to see new member to the program. The sherriffs dep. should be able to tell you who it is and what his # is.
