Tough to exercise in the heat...

Due to the heat I have been going to the gym at about 5:30 a.m. Usually working out for an hour and then getting cleaned up and heading in to the office.

Today at noon a coworker and I decided to go running. We went from downtown Waco to the Brazos river and up the river 2.5 miles then back.

At 2 miles I noticed that I was starting to get very hot and at 3 miles I noticed that I stopped sweating. By mile 4 I was cramping pretty bad and barely made it back to the Court House at the 4 1/4 mile marker.

I was running with a bottle of water but it just wasn't enough.

I didn't start sweating again until I got up to the office and drank a few bottles of water.

Be careful out there!! But don't give up on working out

Tomorrow you'll should take turns in the company oven at about 350*. Man that's dangerous in the heat of the day.

I've always run in the afternoons, usually right after 5:00 p.m. This is the first year I've had to step it back to 6:00 or 6:30 because of the heat. I'm only running three miles, though.

Running in this heat is definitely not worth the risk. I have taken mine to the extreme and have been running on the treadmill 4 days a week and just doing my long runs outside EARLY Saturday morning.

I do agree that running that distance in the heat was not a good idea. I typically run at the gym on the treadmill and think I will stick to that routine. It's just too hot, even at 6 or 7 pm it's still 100

I underestimated the heat last week and ran in about 105 with no water very stupid on my part. If you are going to do it at least be prepared.

You should have to work out in it all day. It's tough. A good tip that we all do to cool down fast is pour water on your lower arms. There is a lot of blood goes to your hands and that water on your arms will cool you down very fast and keep you cool.
