    Fairfield Tx deer hunting

Does anyone hunt in Fairfield and what are your thoughts on the season this year.

i hunt 15 minutes north of Fairfield, just 1/2 mile south of RC. things are drying up fast but I've seen quite a few deer and they seem to be doing just fine. we had a little rain early in the summer and that kept things green for a while. Fortunately we have several deep tanks on our place and we are very close to the lake so there is water to be found. I think season will be pretty normal, i'm more concerned with next year if this weather pattern continues. If we don't get some rain in October/november then next year will be bad.

I am south of Buffalo, west of Leona and I have deer and hogs on camera, deer look in good shape. I have one pond completely dry. Very little if any acorns this year. Fingers crossed. Going to put camera out on other pond this week.

If your close to Richland WMA I would think you would be killing 160's. Wouldn't you love to hunt the Forbidden Zone!

I am in the same area/ MAYBE same lease. We are off 488 south of the lake as well. We have 1400 acres and see LOTS of deer but the bigger deer are hard to come by. Lots of 110-130 deer but there was a few bigger deer seen. LOTS AND LOTS of HOGS.

I hunt in Fairfield close to the power plant. The deer seem about normal this year. We have plenty of water and feed year round. I don't think ours got any smaller. They probably didn't improve as much as they could have, but they did grow some.

That would be nice! I hunt off of 488 about 3 miles past cr 830 before the forbidden zone.

We have plenty of big deer on our place. We started a strict management program about 3 years ago and it has paid off. 2 seasons ago we shot a 125 and 126. Last season we shot a 132 and a 149. We have a 130 and up mature only rule now. We have shot several of 130-140 class bucks off of our place. Just put a hog panel fence up to eliminate the hogs.

I'm off 416 in Winkler, 7 miles west of the dam. Our deer are small, average very low 100's, biggest i've shot was around 115". I've only got about 250 acres to hunt.

we have enough pork running around to feed an army, i'll start after em again in about a month. To expensive to start throwing corn this early.

I bow hunted the 1st session at the RC wildlife mgmt land last year and they put me is sector 4 which is right behind the forbidden zone, I missed a 6 1/2 yr old 140 class buck my first morning. Saw several more 130" deer but never got a shot.

If any of you guys in that area know of any land available to lease or if any of you are looking to add a member I'd seriously be interested.
