    Water Pump

If I hooked up a portable water pump to a water tank and an RV's city water hookup, would the pump shut down if all faucets are off, or would it burn itself up and self-destruct? Trying to figure a way to get water into an RV that doesn't have a holding tank.

BTW, what's that red dot under my avatar mean?

I would think that if the pump ran continuously there would be problems either in the pump or the lines. You could put the tank up on stilts that are higher than your faucets in the trailer and let gravity do the work. That's how city water systems work.

You need an on-demand pump that will shut down.

That is an easy fix just set it up with a pressure switch to cut the pump off and on

Get a on demand water pump.

exactly, just like a well pump it had a differental pressure switch to turn it on when presure drops due to faucet being open.

If it runs and no water moves it will burn up

Get an on-demand pump from the RV dealership and it will work fine. Had a cabin wired with 12v with water from a cistern, hooked up an on-demand pump to keep the pressure up. Put in a propane water heater, and it was as good as being at home.

On demand pump ... Harbor freight has 'em cheaper than most.

On demand pump, and why don't you have an avatar?

Thanks for all the advice. I bought a pump from Harbor Freight, but don't know if it's an "on demand" pump.
