    Digital Replacement Timer-Game Winner Brand @ Academy-$24.99

I just saw these on the Academy website and I'm assuming they are a new product and I was wondering if anyone has used them yet, I figure they may have this same timer in their other Game Winner feeders. Game Winner is Academys brand so I know they will take it back if it doesn't work properly but I was hoping to find some opinions, $24.99 for a digital replacement timer is pretty cheap.

The Game Winner™ Hunting Gear VTX-D Feeder Control Unit is a 6/12V digital timer that provides 1 - 6 feed times each lasting 1 - 30 seconds, and the motor speed is adjustable to high, medium and low. Compatible with most power control units.

to me a timer is a timer, as long as it throws corn for somewhat as long as i want it to, and around the time i want it to, then I'm good. I see no need to spend the $60+ on timers that some people use, cheaper the better for me. I have an old remmington that cost me $25, and it still works 6 years later!

I say buy it, and if you don't like it return it.

Both the Hunten and Game Winner timers, as well as the Remington digital timer are sold by BA Products and use the same circuit. I have all of those, plus the "Tundra Quest" labeled timer, and they are all working great. I had one (a Remington labeled one) split at the inline fuse (the plastic fuse housing cracked open) but I fixed it for pennies. I haven't had any electrical or timing issues with any of mine, and have had some in feeders for over 3 years now, operating first at 6 volts and then upgraded to 12 volts and no issues at all. I even had one broken out of the motor box after falling from a tree hung feeder this Spring, and lay outside in the mud and dirt for several weeks, and all I needed to do was brush the mud off and reconnect it. It's in a feeder as I write this, dispensing corn.

The Game Winner is the best deal, at $25. You can find the Tundra Quest labeled examples on eBay; the only difference with the Tundra Quest Version is the extra day options; you can select individual days, weekends only, weekdays only, every other day, or all days.

Had a Remmie that lasted 2 years, replaced with a Moultrie that was identical except for the different logo, and no problems w/it. My favorite is OnTime due to their no b.s. lifetime warranty. Their timer (the Elite model) is almost the same, but you can go up or down on the time which saves minutes in going from 7 PM to 6 PM etc, when you want to change times.

The place I do feral hog control has a feeder with The Timer in it, and it is obviously a higher quality timer, but functionally--not a speck of difference IMO.

The one I don't like is the SpinCast--at least the ones we had 5-6 years ago 'cause if you forgot to turn them off after re-setting them, they wouldn't feed at all. Sort of like clicking on the Start button to stop Windows--

Vortexan--Where can you get the Hunten replacement timer? I haven't seen that one yet. Does anyone know the price?

Most of my feeders have HCR or The Timer in them but like stated above as long as they work and are dependable I don't care, I'm looking at buying 3 or 4 replacement timers because I have motors and stuff but the higher end may cost around $260 for 4 timers or $100 for these.

I also have some like these that have been good so I'm trying to decide if I want to stay with the Moultrie, try out the Game Winner or maybe find the Hunten that you guys mentioned.

BIL bought some Redneck Timers for $9.00 that are working great on his automatic deer water system. Pretty sure he picked them up at online Academy.

Assuming they use the same circuit as the Remington as noted above..The Remington ones we have work fine. Not as classy as "the timers" we have, but they are also going on 3 years too.

One thing I would recommend though is get rid of those alligator clips. They can be a pain to get a good connection to the battery or sometimes just slip off. You can buy the wire clamps that will hook on the standard 6 volt batteries at the auto parts or hardware store real cheap. Super easy upgrade if you ask me.

I've had one of those game winners for about a year now. Just checked that feeder yesterday and it's still working good.

I went to check one of my feeders the other day and havent been there in months. Something had taken the timer out and drug it underground in a big crack and ate the photo eye off. It was a crappy one anyway but am looking for a replacement. This looks better than the $60 they wanted last time i looked. Is this online only ?

This really cracks me up that you said that.........about 2 months ago I was on the Academy website playing around and on the clearance section they had the Redneck Timer for $9 just like you said, they only showed to have one but I ordered it and was excited over the price, a few days later a box came in from UPS from Academy, I was opening it and told my wife dang this is a big box for a small timer........it was a pair of black Nike baseball cleats but with my timer paperwork with it. Guess they got it mixed up so I just brought the cleats back in and got a gift card for around $60 and didn't tell them about the mistake because I was really hoping for the timer and didn't get what I wanted so I just took the gift card.

Grizzly funny thing is my BIL ordered cleats with his timers........j/k. That is funny.

They actually seem to be working well, activating water pumps every day.
