    gravity feeders ?

ok, this may be a transplanted yankee question, but...Gravity feeders, basically barrels with holes in them, and when the corn falls out, it falls out ? Seems to me that wouldn't work too well, but...

    feedback anyone ?

Gravity feeder just means it is a demand feeder...the deer can eat all they want, when they want. Typcally used for feeding protein, although some will switch over to corn after the velvet comes off.

I used this one this year and it worked great:

Boss Buck feeders have been leading the way in deer feeders for almost 2 decades. Our patented gravity feeders are simple to use and deadly effective.

Oh...yes it can be expensive to feed this way!!!!

We used them in East Texas for years...until the hogs invaded. 55 gallon drum, PVC toilet flange, PVC pipe hanging down with a PVC Cap on the end. The "feeding hole" consisted of cutting the pipe about 1/2 through about 2" up from the cap. Heat it up and push it in...kinda makes a "nose opening" for the deer. Again, they worked until the hogs figured them out.

If you hunt in East Texas, most big bucks steer away from a spin type feeder (at least in my area). Last year I had numerous pics of 140-150 class bucks at my gravity feeder but with corn prices escalating this year I put a spin feeder there until about a month ago. Not one pic of a decent buck all year. They are still a bit skiddish from the new feeder and since this is on property where I live, I am now had feeding each morning until they get accustomed to the new Buck Boss gravity feeder.

Note: When they are feeding regularly at the gravity feeder (usually around August) I was loosing about 15 lbs. of corn per day to the deer, squirrels, rabbits, coons and a few hogs.

          Best of luck to ya.

          Good luck.
