We used to have it good. Everybody would hang out and have a good time. Now I am the only bowhunter. My FIL and wifes uncle are the only other deer hunters, but they sit in the stand and head home. No more sitting around and shooting the bull about what we did or didnt see. It is nice to be alone sometimes, but it does seem to get old. How big a part does commraderie play in your deer camp? Do you think you would still enjoy it as much without it?

It's a huge part of ours. All of the families on our lease have known each other for generations. We always eat together and talk about what we saw/didn't see and those of us with video or pictures usually pull those out too if we saw something worth showing. I don't know that I would enjoy hunting nearly as much if our situation wasn't so family oriented.

That is one of the best parts to me. I really enjoy getting in from a hunt and then gettign to hear how others did as well as relay my own story. Aside from deer camp, most of the other hunts i go on is because of the guys going on them. Yes, i'd do a solo hunt sometime, but camp's always more fun when there's a group around the camp fire (or an empty fire pit these days)

We have those in our camp that like to keep to themselves, but the times when everyone gets around the fire with beer, sodas, water, etc... are always good times
To me there is nothing better then sitting next to a fire drinking beer and bs'ing with family/friend with some good tunes in the background

My wife's entire family hunts. Deer season is family time. We may all hunt different areas, but just about every weekend we're out there hunting, and afterward gathered around the campfire, eating what we've killed, or eating something else if we haven't killed. Telling stories of the hunt, joking, starting deep conversations, and having a good time. I love deer camp

If it wasn't for the camp atmosphere, I would just do guided day hunts!Probably cheaper in the end.
I really look forward to seeing my fellow lease mates. Took a few years but everyone I hunt with I look forward to seeing.
All of the kids in camp help to keep us young and remember what having a good time is all about. I am lucky that the guys I hunt with are excellent at preparing meals and I am not but I am trying to gt better in this department.
Yea, deer camp would not be the same without the good peeps!

That is why I pay for a lease. Yes, shooting deer is the ultimate goal, but I have just as much fun hanging out at camp. Otherwise I would pay for the day hunt and just go back home.
Part of the camp experience is driving down there with the other members and families. Yes the 5-6 hour drive is long, but it is worth when we get there. We all cook dinner and clean up after. How often does that happen at home? Tell the same stories around the fire and enjoy your beverage of choice.
Get the money games going over the horse shoe pits, and try to make it back with the archery competition. The hunting is only part of the reason that I go. As long as I am at the lease, I will take what I can get.
