PREFERENCE POINTS for Texas draw hunts

I have meesed around and let the deadline sneak up on me. Do you lose your preference points if you dont apply? I cant find anything about it in the book.

    Thanks Jeff

Nope, you only lose them when you get drawn. I almost missed the deadline myself. And i have missed it in the past and the points stayed intact for the folowing year so your good.

            No.
If you put in and do not get drawn, you accure a preferrence point. So next year, your name will go in the drawing twice or the number of points you have accrued thru the years.

There was something in the book some yrs ago. If you didn't apply for 3 or maybe it was 5 yrs, then you would lose them. Don't know if it still applys today. PM Ground Level and he can tell ya.

I think you do lose them if you don't apply for anything for about three years. Otherwise they stay intact. I went through that once upon a time....

It may be longer than 3 years....not sure.

I applied for some hunts in 2002 or 2003, then got transferred to California, then Massachussets. Came back to Texas in 2008 and my points were still in the system. I had forgotten all about them.

I have 4 preferrence points in Archery Deer. This is the most I've ever had in this category. Usually, I get 2 points then get drawn. Now, in the last 4 yrs, I did get drawn, but the hunt got cancelled due to flooding, and didn't lose any points and gained one for that year, hence why I have 4 points and not 2 or 3.
But I plan on gettin drawn this year!!! Somebody should have gotten on my card!!
Also, if you didn't know, if you go as a stand-by and get to hunt, you do not lose your points!!
