TPWD Draw Hunt Drawing Dates

I'm new to the draw hunts and was wondering how soon after the deadline does TPWD draw names or is there a specific date?

Usually they'll draw within a couple days after the deadline.

You can also call the TPWD number a few days after the deadline, there is a option for hunting drawing results in the automated menu.

Yep, they notify you by mail and you can call in for yourself and check.

If you get drawn, you'll get a letter with the permits fairly soon after the drawing. If you don't get drawn, you'll eventually get a postcard letting you know you didn't get drawn. It will take a while before that postcard gets to you though. No hurry when you don't get drawn.

If you don't get a letter within a week and a half of the deadline, you didn't get drawn. You can call the 800 # and check on draw results, too.

I read through the book today since I have never put in for the draw. putting in for a couple different hunt categories in two different locales.

I did read that there is a 'spread the wealth' point system to try and spread the hunts out amongst the hunters that put in...something like if you don't get picked, you get some points and that the points are supposed to help you get picked...but they did mention that a first timer can still get picked...guess they need to keep track somehow if they want to keep the most people interested.

we'll see how it goes, sending mine in tomorrow or might just drop off at HQ since it needs to be there by the 11th

yeah the longer you are in it without getting picked the higher you get bumped on the vip list

Didn't know about the points system but that's good to know. Still not sure how much I trust the State to keep track of points for hunters but I guess it's better than nothing.

I think (key word) that they multiply the number of times your name goes in the hat by the number of preference points that you have.
