My grandmother had the same bottle with snuff in it. As kids we were told it was her medicine

Snuff Bottle. Look on the bottom and there will be some dots. This meant something but I can't remember, seems like it was the strengh or something like that (can't remember though)!!

The number of dots signify the strength of the product. Four dots is the strongest.
