Very well said Xman and glad you made it off the street physically intact, ( you will understand that comment ). Back when I FTOed I would make the rookies carry a card in their pocket that read, “ I will not die on the street today”. Back when I worked traffic I always got out of the car with the warning book. If you got a ticket from me it was because you talked me into it.

I appreciate all of you who can do that job. I don't have what it takes! With that, I know that for every ticket I get, I should have gotten a lot more. Also, you have to give a little slack to a guy who walks out of his house every day with a bunch of a holes who want to stop him from doing his job.

You do that work for a week and then post up being upset 'cause you got a ticket for slowing down for a STOP sign.

Even while getting the bogus tickets, I didn't disrespect the officers. I only argued the fact that it was bs that I was being cited. If I break the law it's all on me, but in those 3 cases I didn't break any laws.

Trust me, I'm on their side 100% of the time. I do my best to not speed any more but it still happens but not on purpose. If I don't set the cruise, I know I'll be speeding. If I'm wrong i don't argue with them because they caught me red handed.

LEO's are doing their job and I thank them for that because I chose not to go into that profession.

I've had a few bad experiences with leos. They were a long time ago when I lived like a pos. Since I turned things around in my life and my attitude I haven't had any more negative run ins. Hmmm........

i too spent about 15 years as an fto,, i made my rookies read that scripture, did not allow them to cuss while on a call ( i could'nt stand seeing someone arrested for d.o.c. when the officer that arrested him was doing it to!.. just really set wrong with me... i taught my rookies on day 1, if you can breath, you can fight, if you can fight, you can win, it aint over till i win, iI AM GOING HOME!

i just retired with thirty years experiance as leo, all on the streets,, the reason there are good and bad cops,, is because we are you! we come from every little town and big city, some of us are God fearing Christians, some are even atheists, and some of us are not much better than the folks we deal with, because we are you, we come from the high schools and from the same colleges you did,,, we lived in the same neighbor hoods as you do,,,, some of us really risked our life because we did care,, some of us take advantage of situations and people, because , we are you,,, leo's come from every walk of life some with great motives and some because they want a power trip,, some screw up by accident, some screw up because they were trained wrong, some screw up because thats the kind of person they are,, because we are you...

it is a shame there are bad cops,, and there always will be, as long as we are human and we come from the same places you do, there will be good cops also because we are human,, and sometimes some scum bag takes an officers life,, and we become angry,, because we are people too,, its a sad thing that there is no way to make cops act like machines, because then they could all be made to be arrogant horses rears, or they could all be made as pacificists, that would not get involved in your bad situation... or they could all be made as drones who never have emotion, fear, or love or laugh or bleed,
but alas we are you, flesh and blood, thinking, breathing, living , guilt ridden, drunkards, pastors, preachers, choir members, scout leaders, motrocycle ridding leather clad bikers, drug abusers , wife and husband cheating people...
yea, some leo's are worthless, and some of them died trying to protect you and your rights,, but in the end God will judge us all, and when he asks you,, did you pray for those people you despised or just the ones you liked, how did you treat that officer i sent to see you? I want to know, because you see he was one of my angels,, i appointed him to be a police officer, he didn't ask to be a cop, he wanted to be a minister, and i had an opening, so i picked him,, he became the way he was , because like you he wasn't perfect, and he was even flawed, and he like you was influenced by everything around him,,
next time you anyone looks in a mirror, remember this,, perfect ot not, they will back each other, and they will even turn on one another, because a good cop doesnt like a bad one,, and the bad ones dont like the good ones,
and God could just as easily appointed that person you see in the mirror..., would you take the job? would you be the good one, the bad one, the lazy one, the pathetic one?
what ever you thoughts, what ever your experiances,,, you need to pray for them,,, because in less than a year your life could change because of one, or because you became one,, because we are you.........

I swore the other day I would not post on another LEO thread. Thanks Xman and TVC. I have been in this profession for a year now. I left a well paying sales job, for a valling from my Lord. I ahve a supportive wife that is basically a single mom now until I get tenure. There have been so many true things stated so far in this thread. God bless all the rest of my brothers, and God bless all of you that love me or hate me. I am doing what my God called me to do.

I've never been treated with anything other than respect and courtesy when interacting with a GW. That said, they base their actions off of yours, so you get what you pay for, so to speak...

Now LEOs, they're a mixed bag. The bad apples ruin the bunch. You don't hear too many of the stories about the good ones, but you'll hear about the bad ones, the media will make sure of it.

My younger brother is a S.O. in St. John's county in FL, not sure i'd want his job, but he makes **** sure I know he wouldn't want mine either!
