Uh oh... My Boe Ain't Shootin Right...

1st off I'm not an archery shop guru. I can shoot the hell out of my bow but I don't know how to fix it if it's not shooting right. I'm shooting open handed so I'm not torquing, release is good, and I don't notice it at shorter distances. At 40yds I've got what seems to be a 3-4" spiral on the fletch end. It's doesn't seem to effect accuracy at 20-30 but at 40 it's big time! Where do I start looking?

Not exactly sure. Try starting at 40 and then move in. Sometimes when I get tired I move my arm out a little after the shot to see where it goes and it does that.

I am not an expert either, but I had that same thing happening to me. You have to play with your arrow spine and tip weight. For me I went to a 125 gr point and went up to the next spine size and the spiraling went away at that distance. Its hard to notice any arrow flight distances at 20. you really see them at 30 yards plus. just my experience. I am sure someone on here can give you more detail!

You can still torque your bow with an open hand...

I always start at 40 for 2 reasons. 1 is it makes it easier at 20, everyone knows that. 2 and probably the most important reason is my target is 40yds from my back porch lol

if you're arrow flight was good previously with the same arrows you could have a nocking point issue, I would try to move your nock up/down slightly to see how the arrow reacts. If no help you can adjust you're center shot in/out slightly also. Another thing could be vane contact

to add to the above ( it was good but now it's not) it could be serving under the D-loop moved or is loose also. check for vane contact.. could be very slight

also with this weather it could be rising heat thermals

Is it the Bow or the shooter? Have someone else shot it?

Shoot through some paper and a tiny bit of torque will turn into many inches at 40yds
