    first time axis

im going hunting fri and im so excited i cant sleep and its only tuesday. One of my sales reps i buy product from is taking me axis hunting on his families land around barksdale. Ive never been and dont know what to expect. Hes been pumping me up for a month or so with game cam pics of axis audad and fallow. Its a free range hunt on small acreage. Judging from all the pics ive been seeing they're their its just a matter of timing. Any words of advice would be much appreciated.

Good luck and drink plenty of refreshments.
Also, wear some comfortable boots/shoes and clothing; it will be hot!

It shoudn't be a problem to get on some axis in that area. I have almost hit a big buck 2 years in a row on the way to or from the ram hunt. On the last turn this year I counted at least 15 does and bucks that were dead on the side of the road. Good luck and Take some LDPs.

I would take a bag of chaffhaye alfalfa and put it out slightly away from a feeder. Hunt the feeder in the morning and setup on the chaffhaye in the early afternoon.

Yep what he said. A friend of mine said he tears the alfalfa bale apart and throw in up in the small mesquite trees and brush to get the smell of it out there further.
